A powerful moment at B'nai Abraham tonight
Tonight at 7 p.m. Butler’s B’nai Abraham synagogue will be filled with love — and with people of all faiths, as we come together to support and mourn with our Jewish Brothers and Sisters.
Everyone is invited, and we hope you’ll consider attending and participating. There are no strings attached. Simply show up.
Be there. Be present. Lend an arm, an ear, a shoulder to cry on, a comforting handshake; be a sounding board, a witness, a member of this community.
Be welcome, and come with love in your heart.
After all, it’s that message of love that will ultimately overcome the rage and hate with which our country is currently struggling.
If you need evidence of the power small, everyday acts of kindness possess, look no further than the pot of daisies on display within B’nai Abraham. The flowers were sent to the synagogue Tuesday by a member of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church along with a simple reminder: “Know that you are loved.”
That’s it. Just a simple note and a few white flowers to stand against what has been a very dark week for our Jewish community.
For members of the synagogue it’s come to stand as a symbol of love and a reminder that, at a time when they feel most vulnerable, they can also feel loved, appreciated and safe in the community where they live, work and worship.
Isn’t it amazing that such a small thing can express such a multitude of reassurances? Isn’t it wonderful that we can make such a positive impact on people when we stop seeing them as a collection of differences, and instead think about what we have to offer each other?
Isn’t it powerful to realize that it doesn’t matter if what we have to offer seems small or simple, and that what really matters is that we are offering it in the first place?
What do you have to offer? Whatever your answer may be, it will be welcomed at B’nai Abraham tonight. We hope to see you there.
