JACKSON TWP — A tip from a confidential informant led Butler County Drug Task Force officers to a township man and more than 170 grams of marijuana, THC oil and drug paraphernalia.

Charges were filed Monday.

On Aug. 27, detective and task force officer Matthew Irvin made contact with the informant, who had arranged to buy $200 of marijuana from Daniel Haberman, 25, of Jackson Township.

Irvin decided to investigate and set up a sting. Supplying the informant with the required $200, Irving watched as the informant entered Haberman’s apartment, only to emerge later with marijuana, THC oil and two Rice Krispy treat marijuana edibles.

A week later, on Sept. 3, Irvin “conducted surveillance” of the apartment and reported smelling marijuana emanating from Haberman’s door.

The next day, he set up another sting.

Irvin met with the informant at around 5:55 p.m., again supplying the $200.

Once again, the informant entered the apartment and again emerged reportedly carrying marijuana, THC oil and THC wax.

With that, the Task Force obtained a search warrant, and the next day they searched the apartment, documents state.

Officers entered the residence to find Haberman and his girlfriend flushing marijuana down the toilet, documents state.

Officers detained them and searched the apartment, ultimately finding 13 THC oil cartridges, $940 in U.S. currency, around 93.7 grams of marijuana recovered from the toilet, around 84.4 grams of marijuana from jars in the living room, small amounts of marijuana in bedrooms, two shotguns and a large amount of drug paraphernalia throughout the apartment, documents state. Police charged Haberman with multiple counts of marijuana possession and delivery and one count of evidence tampering.

His preliminary hearing has yet to be set.
