A Wexford man is charged with raping a woman in a dorm room on Slippery Rock University’s campus earlier this year.

Slippery Rock University Police, who filed the charges Wednesday, allege Jesse J. King, 22, sexually assaulted the woman overnight on April 5, in a dorm room in North Hall after the pair had been drinking.

Police, in court documents, said King and the woman had been drinking beer and vodka in another dorm room in North Hall before returning to her room, where the woman allowed King to spend the night before she “passed out in her bed.” Sometime overnight, police said, King assaulted the woman, who woke up the next day to find herself in pain and her clothes in disarray.

Police said King later that day admitted in a text message to assaulting the victim while she was sleeping. The woman’s roommate, who was present in the room during the alleged assault, also gave investigators a statement, according to court documents.

University spokesman Robb King, who is not related to the accused, said Jesse King is not and has never been enrolled at SRU. He declined to comment on the case Wednesday.

Jesse King is charged with felony counts of rape of an unconscious victim, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an unconscious person. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of furnishing liquor to a minor.

Court documents say King awaits a preliminary hearing, but do not indicate that one has been scheduled.
