Calvin Church Youth Group will present “Newsies the Musical” Nov. 2 to 4.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 at the church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

Saxonburg will celebrate Founder’s Day on Saturday with activities throughout the town.

The Saxonburg Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and there will be children’s events at the Saxonburg Library.

[naviga:h3]Symphony to play ‘Potter’[/naviga:h3]

Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s 70th anniversary season will continue with “Magical Music of Harry Potter” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.

A pre-concert talk will begin at 6:30 p.m.

[naviga:h3]Live music set for Chaplin film[/naviga:h3]

The “In Harmony” Music Series presents two iconic silent Chaplin films “The Rink” and “The Pawn Shop” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Historic Harmony Opera House.

Live music by Pittsburgh jazz pianist Tom Roberts will accompany the film. There will be an intermission between films, and Roberts will share stories about how he came to write intricate and complementary scores for the Chaplin films.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children younger than 6.

Moviegoers in costume receive a $5 ticket discount.

[naviga:h3]History center hosts ‘Zombies’[/naviga:h3]

In honor of the 50th anniversary of George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead,” the Senator John Heinz History Center will dig into Pittsburgh’s zombie history at the “Walking Dead Meets Living Dead: Zombies in Pittsburgh” event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Ghoulish guests can enjoy a complimentary zombie-themed cocktail, create a sinister zombie movie poster, and walk away with a zombie bite.

Zombie garb and Halloween costumes are encouraged. A prize will be awarded to the most creative costume.

[naviga:h3]Dance troupe to perform [/naviga:h3]

The Afro-Colombian Dance Ensemble from Slippery Rock University will perform “Palenque!” at 8 p.m. Friday at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in Pittsburgh.

Victoria Lowrey, a senior from Harrisville, is part of the ensemble. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
