Ohio man injured in crash with rig

WORTH TWP — A 33-year-old Ohio man was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 southbound in northern Butler County, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not immediately available, reportedly hit a tractor-trailer that was pulled off the side of the highway about 6:40 a.m. The driver of the rig had stopped after hitting a deer.

The Ohio man suffered a bleeding head injury, according to a 911 report, and his truck ended up in a wooded area. He was conscious when emergency responders reached him.

Slippery Rock EMS took him by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Medics described his injuries as “moderate.”

State police are investigating but an accident report was not available.
