Sentencing Court

President Judge Thomas Doerr handed down the following sentences Oct. 17:

Cynthia K. Lewis, 53, of Butler was sentenced to 5 years in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program, with the first 105 days to be served on house arrest with electronic monitoring. She pleaded guilty July 24 to charges of DUI that were filed Jan. 16. She must also pay a $1,500 fine and complete 100 hours of community service.

Joseph Lee Carter, 34, of Cranberry Township was sentenced to a total of 3 years of probation after pleading guilty Sept. 12 to three counts of drug possession. Carter was charged on Sept. 27, 2017. He must also complete 60 hours of community service.

Brian A. Kennedy, 24 of Evans City was sentenced for three separate cases. In the first, after pleading guilty on Jan. 11 to harassment, he must pay a $100 fine and $20 in restitution. In the second case, Kennedy was sentenced to 1 year of probation, 20 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $100 fine along with $191.61 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty Jan. 11 to receiving stolen property. In the third case, Kennedy was sentenced to 6 months of probation after pleading guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia on charges from Nov. 21, 2017. And Kennedy must also pay a $100 fine. The probations are all to be served consecutively.
