BUTLER FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler First Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have music by Debby Shutak on Sunday.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will observe Laity Sunday led by Laura Killby. Sunday school for children is at 10:30 a.m. Care Team meets 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Wednesday Men’s Fellowship Group will meet at 6:30 a.m. quilters at 9 a.m. and Bible study at 7 p.m.

The sign-up sheets to help with or order whole hog sausage will be in the narthex. The sausage will be available at 2 p.m. Nov. 17.

COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, will host a vocal workshop presented by Dr. Steve Bowersox from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $20 and includes lunch. For more information or tickets, visit www.butlercac.org/events or call 724-282-0230. Tickets will also be for sale at the door.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

At Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., the Seekers topical discussion class will meet at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Assembly Room. This will be the final in the Nooma DVD and discussion series. The following Sunday, a DVD series on Genesis will begin.

Extra envelopes will be available in the narthex for contributions to the Peace and Global Witness offering.

EMORY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

A hymn sing is planned at Emory Chapel United Methodist Church, corner of Sarver and Ekastown Roads in Sarver, at 7 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will follow.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext., will have Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. followed by worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Tom Clyde’s message will be “So How Should We Get Involved? Some Guidelines For Sports.” A fellowship potluck dinner will follow.

The AA group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and Weight Watchers will meet at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, followed by an 11 a.m. worship service, noon lunch and a 1 p.m. worship service on Sunday.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a Friends and Treats event at Sunday school time at 9:15 a.m. Children are encouraged to dress up, and they will receive treats throughout the church.

The finance committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. There will be no Bible study on Thursday.

Bins are located in the front office for donations of nonperishable food for the Kids Backpack program.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., opens Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. No proof of income is required. Each family can fill one large bag.

During Sunday morning worship, the Golden Agers will be recognized and a luncheon to honor them will follow in the social hall.

Members of Grace @ Calvary will lead worship at LIFE Butler County with the adult day program participants at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. To participate, be at the church by 10:40 a.m.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Rev. Leigh Benish begins as the new pastor of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., at Sunday worship. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall to welcome her and her family.

The yarn group will meet following Sunday worship.

New rehearsal time for the bell choir is 6 p.m. Thursdays.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., will have the Locking Arms Men’s Ministry meeting at a new time on Wednesday mornings from 6:30 to 8 a.m. at Mac’s Cafe, Route 8, and also on Thursday evenings from 6:45 to 8 p.m. at Kings Restaurant, New Castle Road.

Christian Business Partners meet at 8 a.m. Thursday mornings in the sanctuary.

The Men’s Breakfast will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mac’s Cafe.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Session of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room.

Heritage Sunday will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship services with guest musician bagpiper George Baldrose.

Twenty five-year members will be recognized at the 11 a.m. Sunday service with dinner following for the 80-plus members.

MERIDIAN PRESBYTERIAN

Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., will have a Trunk or Treat Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church. There will be bouncy houses, free food and games. Contact the church at 724-482-2630 if you plan to decorate your car.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. There will be a box in the library for cards or notes.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have a GROW meal, fellowship and singing beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday before study and discussion. Donations are being take for VOICe, the county agency assisting victims of domestic violence. Donations may be dropped off in Evans City Oct. 25.

ORCHARD HILL

Orchard Hill Butler County hosts a youth Fall Fest for students in grades 6-12 at Harvest Valley Farms from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Saint Andrews UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will be treated to the sounds of Uptown Girls during the 10:30 a.m. worship. The group includes more than 20 young women under the direction of Kathy Sawyer and will start to sing around 10:15 a.m.

Scottish Sunday will be Oct. 28, and the Veterans Day concert to benefit Purvis Community Health Center’s veterans dental program will be Nov. 11.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Communion during the 11 a.m. Sunday service. The Cause of the Month is the ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response Initiative.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, observes a Harvest Home Weekend. Take nonperishable goods for the local food bank.

The faithful friends trip will leave at 10 a.m. Saturday from the church.

There will be healing at all services this weekend. There will be a pot luck luncheon and goal setting meeting after the 11 a.m. service Sunday.

Church council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. Health and Wellness will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
