Slippery Rock girls soccer tops KC, 3-0
Following a scoreless first half, Slippery Rock’s girls soccer team pulled away in a 3-0 win over Karns City.
Emily Raine scored a goal and had two assists. Ellie Reiser and Isabelle Willison both scored a goal and Kayla Daugherty added one assist.
Julia Hart earned the shutout in net with six saves for the Rockets (13-1).
Franklin Regional 5, Knoch 1 — Lindsie Galbreath scored the lone goal for Knoch, giving her 112 career points.
Shiann Thomas assisted on the goal. Jewel Robinson had three saves for the Knights, who host Highlands at 7 p.m. Saturday for Senior Night.
Boys Soccer
Hunter Hardin scored a pair of goals for Freeport in a 6-2 win over Burrell. Tanner Hoschied, Stevie Teorsky and Brock Loievlie — all team captains — also netted goals on Senior Night.
Addison Stewart also scored for Freeport (8-8, 6-5).
Girls Volleyball
Carolyn Kelly (8), Abby Regal (7) and Madison Bresnehan (6) combined for 21 aces in Moniteau’s sweep of Forest Area.
Logan Barnhart added nine assists in the 25-14, 25-15, 25-5 victory.
Redbank Valley 3, Karns City 0 — Karns City was incorrectly reported as the winner of this match in Wednesday’s edition.
Redbank Valley won 25-12, 25-16, 25-9. Emma Clark had three kills, Mackenzie Dunn 16 digs and Kaley Byerly 12 digs for the Gremlins.
Girls Tennis
Mars hurdled host Fox Chapel, 4-1, in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAA team playoffs.
Amelia Haley, Emily Ivory and Isabella Gaydosh were all winners in singles play and the No. 2 doubles team of Emma Nelson/Maddie Lussier also won.
