Virginia Margaret Nowakowski
Virginia Margaret Nowakowski, 87, at Transitions Healthcare Autumn Grove Care Center in Harrisville, Pa., was called to her heavenly home May 2.
Born Feb. 18, 1931, she was the only child of the late James Henry and Margaret Edith (Baker) McCartney.
Some of Virginia's employers were Schomer's Bakery, Hartner's Restaurant, Montour Heights Country Club and Florist and Greenhouse Shops.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, travel, square dancing and country music.
Surviving are her daughter, Diana (Blum) Braun, and her husband, Raymond, of New Castle, with grandchildren, Wendy and Kevin; her son, David Blum, and his wife, Mary (Janecko), of Sewickley, with granddaughter, Michelle, who is the parent of her two great-grandchildren, Leah Hughes and Zoe Blum; her grandson, Brian, of Baden; a son, Dennis Blum, of Webster, Texas, and his ex-wife, Vickie (Weir) of Plano, Texas, with granddaughter, Nicole (Blum) Zerbe, and her husband, Corey, and great-grandchildren, Landon and Beau of Kenhorst; and her grandson, D.J. (Dennis James), and his wife, Monica (Arcila), of Webster, Texas.
Also surviving her are many relatives of the James McCartney, Merle Blum, Robert Rupert and William Nowakowski families loved by Virginia and with whom she shared her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Eugene Blum; her second husband, Robert Rupert; and her third husband, William E. Nowakowski.
NOWAKOWSKI — A memorial committal service for Virginia Margaret Nowakowski, who died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in the mausoleum at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, 273 Route 68, Rochester, with the Rev. Ellen S. Lundie officiating.A graveside service will follow at Garden of the Resurrection.Interment is with her parents.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2323 Old Butler Road, New Castle, Pa. 16101.
