Well Strung starts series of Performing Arts
The opening show in the Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University will feature Well-Strung, musicians who fuse classical and pop music with a blend of vocals and strings, at 2 p.m. Saturday in the University Union.
The group includes Edmund Bagnell, first violin; Chris Marchant, second violin; Daniel Shevlin, cello; and Trevor Wadleigh, viola.
Since making its debut in 2012, Well-Strung has toured internationally.
The Performing Arts Series at SRU will continue on Nov. 2 with Martini Pop, four vocalists, backed by a jazz combo, performing swing versions of modern Top 40 hits; Nov. 17 with A Swingin’ Holiday Affair, starring vocalist Steve Lippia and featuring the SRU Jazz Ensemble in a mix of holiday cheer and jazz and swing standards; Jan. 25 with Rumors, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band; and March 29 with Neil Berg’s American Royalty: Queens of Sex, Soul and Song, with four female Broadway, rock ’n’ roll, jazz and pop artists.
