Well Strung starts series of Performing Arts

The vocals and strings band Well Strung will open the Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University on Saturday.

The opening show in the Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University will feature Well-Strung, musicians who fuse classical and pop music with a blend of vocals and strings, at 2 p.m. Saturday in the University Union.

The group includes Edmund Bagnell, first violin; Chris Marchant, second violin; Daniel Shevlin, cello; and Trevor Wadleigh, viola.

Since making its debut in 2012, Well-Strung has toured internationally.

The Performing Arts Series at SRU will continue on Nov. 2 with Martini Pop, four vocalists, backed by a jazz combo, performing swing versions of modern Top 40 hits; Nov. 17 with A Swingin’ Holiday Affair, starring vocalist Steve Lippia and featuring the SRU Jazz Ensemble in a mix of holiday cheer and jazz and swing standards; Jan. 25 with Rumors, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band; and March 29 with Neil Berg’s American Royalty: Queens of Sex, Soul and Song, with four female Broadway, rock ’n’ roll, jazz and pop artists.
