Police pension plan approved
LANCASTER TWP — Township supervisors discussed budget changes, including the purchase of a new police vehicle, and approved a police pension plan at their meeting Wednesday.
The board voted in favor of spending $49,700 to fund the Uniformed Pension Plan for 2019. The action was required to meet the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System’s annual minimum obligation, according to Ben Kramer, township manager.
The formula is calculated based on police officers involved in the program and retirees drawing on it.
Kramer said no requirements were due for the nonuniformed plan at the time of the budget meeting.
Also Wednesday, supervisors approved the purchase of a 2019 Ford Explorer as an unmarked patrol vehicle. The vehicle will cost about $29,000, with an additional $10,000 designated to equip the vehicle with the necessary technology for officers.
The vehicle is set to be delivered in March.
