[naviga:h3]2 SRU gridders get PSAC honors[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University safety Tavarus Sample and Rock kicker Jake Chapla have been named PSAC West Defensive Athlete and Special Teams Athlete of the Week, respectively.

Sample had two interceptions while Chapla averaged 47.3 yards per punt, booted 5 PATs and a 38-yard field goal in SRU’s 38-31 win over Kentucky State.

INDIANA — Rachel Edge scored Slippery Rock University’s lone goal as the 19th-ranked SRU women’s soccer team lost at IUP, 2-1.

The Rock hosts Mansfield at 1 p.m. Saturday.
