HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania casinos want a federal judge to shut down the state’s new iLottery program, arguing the internet-based games simulate slot machines and casino-style gambling in violation of state law.
The complaint filed Wednesday against the Revenue Department says the iLottery games look, sound and play like slot machines that are found in casinos and online.
The casinos say the Gaming Act limits casino games to those who hold a slot machine license with a table games certificate.
The casinos say the iLottery games allow players who are 18 years old, but casinos can’t let anyone gamble under age 21. The state began iLottery games in May, with prizes up to $250,000.

PITTSBURGH — A police officer has been formally arraigned on a homicide charge in the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager who was fleeing a traffic stop.
East Pittsburgh officer Michael Rosfeld did not appear in court Wednesday for the arraignment. He is scheduled to be in court for a pre-trial hearing Sept. 7, when his attorney had previously said he will argue the shooting was justified.
Rosfeld is charged in the June 19 death of 17-year-old Antwon Rose Jr. after pulling over the car he was riding in. Rosfeld suspected the car was connected to a drive-by shooting in a nearby town.
Rose’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Rosfeld and East Pittsburgh.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia homicide Lt. Norman Davenport says a 15-year-old was arrested and officers are looking for a 16-year-old in the shooting death of 18-year-old Kristian Marche, an incoming freshman scheduled to compete in track and field for Penn State.
Davenport says there was “some acquaintance” between Marche and the offenders but the nature of the relationship is unclear.
