BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have special music Sunday from Chrisann Green.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

The Neighbors with a Purpose Group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, hosts a campfire and kayaking event at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Muskrat Cove group campsite at Moraine State Park. For more information, call Candice White at 814-673-4064.

The care team meets at 7 p.m. Monday.

The contemporary worship planning committee meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The ministry planning team (formally the NOW team) will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church, 1104 Pittsburgh Pike Road, will have a nine-hole golf scramble for men at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Krendale Golf Course. Register online at clcbutler.org/events. Cost is $14.50, payable at the golf course. Take clubs or borrow from a friend at the course.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Members of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will join other local Presbyterian churches for a Worship Without Walls service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. The annual church picnic will follow the service.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

There will be no worship service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Extension, on Sunday as the church congregation will be at Hill Presbyterian’s “Worship Without Walls” 10:30 a.m. event at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. A picnic will immediately follow worship. During the week, AA will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Weight Watchers will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Aug. 30 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 25.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Women’s Missionary Fellowship of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., meets from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church.

The First Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church of Butler, will have a booth at the Brian Ellis “Community Night” event from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Farm Show Grounds.

Sunday’s service schedule is 9:45 a.m. Sunday school and 11 a.m. worship service. There also will be a 6 p.m. worship service.

The Deaf Café will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the youth center. Take a lunch. There will be fellowship, a devotional, and a guest speaker.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have its blessing of the backpacks at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. Students and teachers returning to school are invited to bring their backpacks, tote bags and briefcases for a special blessing.

The Bible study with Pastor Kimberly van Driel resumes at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., has its annual rummage sale and bake sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the church. Volunteers and bake sale donations are needed for all days.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank is open to the public from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. No proof of income is required. Each family may fill one large bag.

The church celebrates its 128th anniversary with a special service Sunday.

The church picnic starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Meridian Vets Club with fellowship time and activities. Dinner follows at 5 p.m. Take a tureen dish to share.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., joins a gathering of Butler area Presbyterian churches for a 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at the Masonic Shelter in Alameda Park, the annual Worship Without Walls service. The Rev. William Jackson will deliver the message with music from the East Butler Presbyterian Church.

A church picnic will follow worship. Hill United will furnish hot dogs, St. Andrews will furnish desserts, and Covenant will furnish beverages. All families should take a salad or side dish to serve 10.

Registration for the fall session of Kids Club has begun. The program starts Sept. 12 and will be weekly on Wednesdays. It welcomes children age 3 through grade 4. Contact the church for more information at 724-287-5427.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., will conduct the sacrament of baptism at the 10 a.m. Sunday service.

There will be a movie and discussion on the judgment of God at 6 p.m. Sunday in the church gym. Child care will be provided.

NIXON UNITED METHODIST

Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, hosts the second annual “A Night For Hope” at 7 p.m. Sunday. This event is a community gathering to promote peace and love through music, a message, and a candle lighting. The speaker will be the Rev. John C. Welch, vice president for student services and community engagement and dean of students at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., joins with other Presbyterian churches for a joint service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Alameda Park at the Masonic Shelter (the large shelter beside the big purple playground.) After worship, there will be a giant church picnic. Saint Andrews members have been asked to take desserts as well as salads and side dishes large enough to feed 10 people.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, will have guest Pastor Karl Schoch officiating Sunday.

The Fellowship Group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Connoquenessing, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will again have lay minister John Bulger from Zelienople leading the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

As the church prepares for the Sept. 2 luncheon, sign up if you are attending alone with the food item you will share.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

The men of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, and their friends are invited to 7:45 a.m. Saturday breakfast at Kings Restaurant, 400 Buffalo Plaza in Sarver.

The Prayer Circle meets at noon Tuesday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The office at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will be closed Friday.

There will be a blessing of the backpacks at the 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday services.
