COMMUNITY LIFE

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

A service of installation will be conducted during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Newly elected elders will be installed: one to the class of 2019 and five to the class of 2020.

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., hosts the AA meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the Weight Watchers at 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Aug. 23 and 8:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

There will be no worship service at Faith United Presbyterian Sunday, as the church has been invited to Hill Presbyterian’s 10:30 a.m. “Worship without Walls” event at the Masonic Shelter at Alameda Park. A picnic will immediately follow.

FIRST BAPTIST

First Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., has a Back-to-School Night at 7 tonight for all parents, students and teachers.

The Sunday schedule will begin at 9:45 a.m. with Sunday school classes and an 11 a.m. worship service followed by a luncheon and 1 p.m. worship service.

The first day of First Baptist Christian School begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The youth group will begin meeting for this fall at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

The first meeting of the fall’s weekly Kids Klub for ages 4 to 4th grade will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

Following the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service, there will be a healing service at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

The staff meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The finance committee meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., accepts donations for its annual Treasure Hunters’ Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday until Aug. 22.

Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank is open from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

During 10 a.m. Sunday worship service, backpacks and lunch bags for the upcoming school year will be blessed. The church is also taking donations for the BASD Weekend Backpack Program. Call the church office to get a list of needed items.

Setup for the Treasure Hunters’ Sale will follow Sunday morning worship.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave., will have its Locking Arms men’s ministry BBQ and kickoff from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Shelter 4 in Alameda Park.

The men’s breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Mac’s Route 8 Cafe, 16 Pittsburgh Road.

Crossroads Youth has a back-to-school luau from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, has its annual Peach Festival at 4 p.m. Friday. All are invited.

Sunday will be the final day that Orchard Hill Butler County meets at Penn Christian Academy. Starting Aug. 26, Orchard Hill will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., in its own sanctuary with a service time at 10:30 a.m.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, has the Rev. Dennis E Protzman as guest minister Sunday.

The Church Council will have a ministry planning session at 6:30 p.m. Monday with dinner available from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for all who can attend.

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., has its annual church picnic at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alameda Park’s Masonic Shelter. There will be games, food, fellowship, and a 6 p.m. Saturday worship service at the park with Holy Communion. The American Red Cross Blood Drive in Fellowship Hall is at noon Tuesday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

The office at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will be closed Friday.

There will be worship with healing at the 5:30 p.m. Saturday worship service.

The 10 a.m. Sunday service will be at Butler Township Park on Duffy Road. There will be a potluck luncheon after the service, which will include healing.

The BALM youth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.
