McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County off Route 422, has the gristmill open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Labor Day. Admission, parking and tours are free. “Pebbles, Boulders, and Rocks!” is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kildoo Picnic Area. And “Crayfishing” will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday from the Hells Hollow Trail parking lot.

Star Parties, sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, will begin at about 8:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E.
