Hitting, pitching and defense abandon Sox
Butler blasted by Chillicothe, 9-0
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Offense, defense and pitching — none of them came through for Butler's Prospect League baseball team Friday night.
Starting pitcher Jace Warkentien allowed five runs in just three innings and the Sox' defense committed three errors while the team managed just six hits at the plate in a lopsided 9-0 loss at Chillicothe.
Paints' pitchers Mike Jacob (seven innings) and Erik Demchuk (two) frustrated Butler's offense, with the former striking out 10 batters and walking none.
Ryan Haff's double accounted for one of the Sox' hits.
Butler (10-23) returns home this weekend for a two-game series against Springfield (18-17).
