Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than 8 accompanied by an adult. Guided tours are available with advance notice for no extra charge. Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, tours include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily, except when the museum is closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens age 60 and older, and $3 for youths ages 6 to 17. Call 724-452-7341.

Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village, 401 Meadowcroft Road, Avella, Washington County, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will host an Independence Day Celebration from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Visitors are invited to wear red, white and blue while participating in popular 19th century family games like races, an egg toss, and a pie-eating contest. There will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence inside the Fairview church in the historic village. PITTSBURGH

Heinz History Center, 1212 Smallman St., will host a Flag Ceremony at noon Wednesday. Visitors can join local veterans in the Great Hall to help unfurl a 36-foot American flag. The history center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Regular center admission is $16 for adults, $14 for senior citizens age 62 and older, and $6.50 for students and children ages 6 to 17. Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park, part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center museum system, will celebrate Fourth at the Fort beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Visitors can help lower a British ensign and raise a 36-foot, 13-star American flag with help from museum staff and local scouts. From 1 to 4 p.m., the museum will present free living history demonstrations. Tours will begin at 11:30 a.m. and 1 and 2:30 p.m. and are included with regular museum admission, which is $8 for adults and $7 for senior citizens, with a $2 discount for retired and active military. Carnegie Science Center on the North Side hosts the Lego exhibit “The Art of the Brick” through Jan. 7 and behind the scenes tours of the USS Requin, Cold War-era submarine, July 8 and 29, Aug. 12 and 26, and Sept. 9. Call 412-237-3400.
