Cranberry stays in 1st
CRANBERRY TWP — After moving in to first place in the Eagle County League Friday night, Cranberry stayed atop the standings with a 12-1 win over the Mars Sliders on Monday evening.
Rob Julian tossed a complete game for the victory, striking out six.
Dom Bucko had two doubles and a single to lead Cranberry’s 12-hit attack. Dave Coradi homered and doubled. Tyler Smith and Reed Tomlinson both contributed a pair of doubles.
Colin Stewart had a double for Mars.
Cranberry (12-2) won a 2-1 decision over Mars on Friday night. Ben Murray scored the winning run in the fifth inning and had two singles.
Bucko and Bill Clinefelter both singled. Cranberry bunched together three hits in the fifth and managed just one total hit in the other innings.
Joe Nagel tossed a three-hitter for Cranberry, striking out three and walking no one. Greg Frederick struck out five in a complete-game effort for Mars.
Garrett Goslaw doubled and Brendan Malone had two singles for Mars.
Cranberry plays at Zelienople on Wednesday.
