SLIPPERY ROCK — A case of good luck turned bad for a Mercer County woman.

Rachel E. Demaria seemed headed for a good day Friday, when she got a call from Slippery Rock University police. An officer advised the 23-year-old West Middlesex woman that her apparently lost wallet had turned up, authorities said.

A good Samaritan had found the green wallet on Kiester Road and dropped it off at the station, police said.

But when officer Tyler Gray looked inside for the owner's identification, according to court documents, he found much more tucked in a larger pocket: a tin foil wrapper containing 10 squares of suspected LSD.

Gray contacted Demaria and told her that she could claim the wallet at the station. She showed up within an hour, police said.

The officer showed the woman the wallet and she confirmed it was hers, documents said. He let her open it and go through it, with the suspected LSD still inside.

“I asked her if everything inside was hers,” Gray said in his affidavit. “Demaria said 'yes it is.'”

The officer then broke the bad news, asking the defendant if the LSD also belonged to her.

“Funny story” she replied, the affidavit said. “I purchased that for friends but I don't use the stuff.”

She allegedly admitted, however, to possessing the LSD.

Police on Monday charged her with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Her preliminary hearing was not immediately scheduled.
