Motorcyclist hurt in crash
PENN TWP — A motorcyclist has been hospitalized after he slammed into the side of an SUV around 2 p.m. on Route 8.
Penn Township Cpl. Dennis Crawford said a 77-year-old Mars woman traveling north on Route 8 meant to turn into Diehl Automotive for service, but instead pulled in front of a 70-year-old Valencia man who was driving a motorcycle south.
“She just didn't perceive him there and turned into him,” Crawford said.
The woman suffered no apparent injuries, Crawford said, but the motorcyclist suffered moderate to severe injuries.
The motorcyclist was transported by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to Crawford.
Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company, Butler Ambulance, and police from Penn, Middlesex and Butler townships responded to the call.
