Valencia man charged in March crash

ADAMS TWP — Police have charged a Valencia man after he crashed his Subaru Forester into a township yard and telephone pole in March, before leaving the scene and returning to his residence.

Officers filed the charges Monday.

John Brown, 59, of Valencia, is charged with criminal mischief, speeding, property damage, reckless driving and disorderly conduct.

Police received a call from the owners of the yard on March 22, informing them of the situation and met them at the scene of the crime, documents say.

The callers told police they heard “very loud noise” coming from outside and saw Brown behind the wheel of the Subaru, which went “in their yard and into a power pole,” documents say.

They told police the driver then left the scene.

Arresting officer Mandy Mudrick of the Adams Township police reported hearing a voicemail by Brown to the victims admitting to crashing into their yard and the pole, documents say.

Officers then went to Brown’s residence to interview him.

While initially denying the accusations when questioned, Brown eventually told officers he “slid” into the victims’ yard, documents say.
