A 90-year-old Saxonburg woman died Sunday after a two-vehicle accident in Plum Borough, Allegheny County, on Friday.

Olga Kocon died at about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, at a Pittsburgh-area hospital where she was taken following a crash Friday afternoon.

The office ruled that Kocon died of blunt force injuries to her head, neck, trunk and extremities. Officials ruled her death an accident.

Jeff Armstrong, chief of police for Plum Borough Police Department, said Monday that the department's investigation of the crash was ongoing.

Armstrong said that the crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Friday on Coxcomb Hill Road in Plum. He said a vehicle in which Kocon was a passenger was stopped on the berm of the road facing south when the driver, Jean Armany, 64, of Glenshaw turned left and crossed both lanes of traffic.

“We don't know if they were trying to make a U-turn or trying to turn onto Logans Ferry Road,” which is nearby, Armstrong said.

As Armany's vehicle was crossing the northbound lane, Armstrong said, it was struck by a vehicle driven by Richard Stutz, 40, of New Kensington.

Armstrong said Stutz's vehicle also was traveling south, and had gone out into the northbound lane to avoid vehicles that were stopped in the road's southbound lane.

Armstrong said Armany was taken to an area hospital with injuries. Stutz suffered unspecified injuries but was not taken to a hospital. Kocon suffered suspected serious injuries in the crash and was conscious at the scene.

Armstrong said Plum police had requested assistance from Allegheny County's accident reconstruction team as the investigation continues, and it was unknown whether any charges would be filed.
