The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is recommending the authority adopt a policy stating that medical marijuana remains illegal under federal law and using it in HUD subsidized rental property is not permitted even though the state has legalized it, Walker said.

The authority operates 12 rental units subsidized by HUD.

Walker said she would look into the policy and prepare one for next month’s authority board meeting.
