Monday — Alexys M. Harris, 24, of Butler was charged with bouncing a check last year. Police said she issued the personal check on March 2, 2017, to a resident on Dutchtown Road.
The check, according to a police report, was written on an account with insufficient funds. Harris is charged with a third-degree misdemeanor count of bad checks.
6:59 p.m. Friday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 north just south of the GetGo convenience store. The wreck happened when Ericka Brothers, 42, of Butler made a U-turn in a sport utility vehicle and collided with another SUV.
The other driver, Tyler Lyons, 17, of Franklin, Venango County, was traveling with his parents. His mother, Kimberly Lyons, 50, of Franklin, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a complaint of a possible neck injury.
Police cited Brothers for making an unsafe U-turn.
5:27 p.m. May 31 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Brenda English, 63, of Butler struck the back of another SUV in the 300 block of Whitestown Road. The other driver, Elaina Rosen, 19, of Butler, was stopped for traffic waiting to turn onto Home Avenue when she was hit.
Police cited English for driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
May 31 — Leanna C. Hemphill, 23, of Butler was charged with having marijuana earlier in the month at the Alameda Plaza.
Police said they were called shortly before 1:30 a.m. May 23 to make a welfare check on a woman reported slumped over in a vehicle. The woman, identified as Hemphill, had been sleeping in the car, according to a police report.
Officers found a baggie of suspected marijuana on the defendant’s lap and a marijuana pipe nearby. She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
[naviga:h3]Cranberry Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
2 a.m. Sunday — A Beaver County man was arrested for drunken driving after his car struck another vehicle while merging into the left lane on Route 19 near Rochester Road. The defendant, Greg M. Jennings, 37, of Ellwood City, subsequently traveled off the road and struck a metal pole.
Police said they smelled alcohol coming from Jennings and he appeared to be impaired, according to court documents. He was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood test, which he refused.
He was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving at an unsafe speed and reckless driving. He was released on his recognizance and placed on pretrial supervision.
One of the conditions of Jennings’ release is that he wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet and submit to random testing for alcohol and/or drugs.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
May 29 — Dustin T. Fiechuk, 25, of Butler was charged with having marijuana in connection with a traffic stop in Muddy Creek Township. Police said he was stopped about 9:20 a.m. May 15 for speeding on Route 422 near the North Shore exit.
A trooper asked Fiechuk about the smell of marijuana coming from his car and he handed over a bag of suspected marijuana, court documents said. Police searched the car and found a second, smaller bag that appeared to have marijuana in it.
In all, the bags had 8 grams of suspected marijuana in them.
Fiechuk is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, speeding and disobeying traffic control devices.
