Crash injures 1, damages building

The Burger King restaurant on Route 8 was damaged after a vehicle rolled over and hit the building Friday night.

BUTLER TWP — Police in Butler Township are investigating a crash that injured a driver and damaged the Burger King restaurant on Route 8 after they say a vehicle rolled and hit the building Friday.

The incident occurred at 142 Pittsburgh Road at 12:10 a.m. Friday, police said.

Joshua Space, 25, of Butler, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt north, when he lost control of the vehicle while going around a left curve near Ann Arbor Lane.

The vehicle slid sideways across the two southbound lanes, hitting a curb, before rolling several times and coming to rest against the Burger King restaurant building, police said.

Space, who was wearing a seat belt, ran from the crash scene, police said, but he was caught a short time later hiding behind the nearby Pizza Hut restaurant.

He suffered a minor injury in the wreck. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The restaurant sustained cosmetic damage to the exterior of the building, police said.
