'We need people like Brianne in our lives'
The friends of 17-year-old Brianne Rapp recalled her fondly as they reluctantly approached the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon and evening to say their final goodbyes.
Brianne, who was a Butler High School junior, died at her home on Friday, leaving behind many to cherish her kind and upbeat personality.
Deanna Fleeger, who attended JROTC with Brianne in ninth grade, said her friend had a selflessness that was unusual in a teenager.
“No matter what was happening with you, she would always put you first instead of herself,” said Deanna. “That's why so many people love her and adore her.”
Deanna said she was shocked when she learned of Brianne's death.
“It broke all of our hearts and I know for a fact she's in a better place,” Deanna said.
Alleysa Parker said she will remember the hugs and kisses on the cheek Brianne freely gave.“She was always there for anyone when they needed her and she was super caring,” said Alleysa.Trevor Leitem, also a JROTC classmate, said he was heartbroken when he heard of his friend's death.“She was always kind to everybody and it's very tragic how she lost her life so young,” he said. “We have thoughts and prayers for the family and we're glad she's in a happy place right now.”Emma Burd called Brianne a sweet girl.“She just had this glowing personality to her,” Emma said. “Every time you talked to her, she put this big smile on your face and made you so happy.
“It's sad that someone so amazing had to go so soon. It's disappointing because we need people like Brianne in our lives.”Nathan Kniess said Brianne was kindhearted and loving.“She loved to help everyone she could, and it's tragic how she lost her life,” he said.Nicholas Pastor said every time he saw Brianne she had a smile on her face.“I know that God will take care of her,” Nicholas said.A funeral for Brianne will be held on Wednesday at Hill United Presbyterian Church.
