7:22 p.m. Saturday — A Washington, Pa., man has been cited by police after getting into a vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.

Harvey D. Hostetler, 18, was issued a summary ticket for driving on roadways laned for traffic. Police said Hostetler was driving a Hyundai GT northbound, with one passenger in the car, when he went off the road and struck a guide rail twice. No one was injured.

4:26 p.m. Saturday — Police say Larry R. Byers, 45, of Butler was cited for allegedly causing an accident that sent a Cranberry Township man to the hospital.

Raymond J. Friedman, 53 of Cranberry Township was taken to UPMC Passavant hospital with a minor injury following the two-vehicle crash on Watters Station Road in Forward Township.

Byers, driving a Ford F-250, veered into oncoming traffic while driving on a curve in the road and struck a Ram 1500 driven by Friedman, according to police. Byers faces a summary meeting vehicle proceeding in opposite direction charge.
