Money and suspected heroin was seized from a motel room in Butler Township. William Stuteville of Butler was charged with having drugs and guns.

A three-time drug felon is accused of having nearly 100 bags of heroin, a stolen handgun and more than $3,000 in currency at a Butler Township motel room.

William S. Stuteville, 28, of Butler was charged Thursday with a list of felonies in the case filed by the Butler County Drug Task Force.

He is being held in Butler County Prison on probation detainers while awaiting his arraignment, possibly June 6, on the latest charges, authorities said.

County probation officers were looking for Stuteville about 9:40 a.m. May 18 when they learned he possibly was at the Super 8 motel on Route 8 with a woman, investigators said.

The clerk advised officers that the woman, identified as Elizabeth A. Walker, 22, of Clay Township, was staying in a room there, according to court documents.

The officers found Walker and Stuteville in the room. Authorities said they also noticed “evidence of illegal drug activity.”

County Detective Tim Fennell, who heads the drug task force, was notified of the findings.

Fennell responded and gathered up a stash of evidence that included 91 stamp bags of suspected heroin and 2 grams of unpackaged suspected heroin.

From a night stand, documents said, he seized a .22-caliber revolver that was later found to have been reported stolen to state police Dec. 2 during a home invasion, documents said.

The gun was loaded with five live rounds and two spent ones.

In Fennell's affidavit, he said he found a second gun — a .38-caliber revolver that had an obliterated serial number — under the bed.

Stuteville was carrying $2,500 in currency in a pair of cargo shorts and he had another $980 in his wallet.

Also collected from the night stand was a digital scale and an open box of baking soda, which authorities suspect was a cutting agent for drugs, according to investigators.

Additionally, documents said, the search turned up drug-packaging materials, syringes, drug-smoking pipes and a drug-cooking spoon.

Fennell said he later interviewed Walker, who waived her Miranda rights. She admitted that she had been staying with Stuteville at the motel.They had been moving to different rooms every two days or so, she recounted, for several weeks.“She stated Stuteville was selling crack and heroin out of the rooms,” the affidavit said, “and sometimes she would drive him to make the deliveries to customers.”She said Stuteville eventually ran out of crack but that a day earlier he had been restocked with about “four bricks” of heroin. In drug parlance, a brick is 50 glassine bags of heroin.According to Walker's account, Fennell said, she and Stuteville were packaging the heroin in stamp bags in the room. She claimed that she was unaware of the guns there.Later that day, Stuteville was placed in the county jail on probation violations.He is charged by the task force with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, all felonies.Additionally, he is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.Walker is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. She remains free while awaiting arraignment set June 6.Butler County Court records showed Stuteville has three prior convictions for felony drug possession in 2017.
