[naviga:h3]Jeep festival coming in June[/naviga:h3]

The Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is planned for June 8 to 10, with some actvities at Cooper’s Lake Campground near Slippery Rock and some in downtown Butler.

The eighth annual event will begin at 9 a.m. each day June 9 and 10.

On June 8, the hours will be from 6 to 10 p.m. downtown.

More than 2,000 Jeep owners from 28 states and Canada are already registered to attend with their vehicles.

New in 2018 will be a Bantam Proving Grounds Jeep Pull, Decorate Your Jeep, an Invasion After-Party, and “Bantam Jeopardy.”

In addition, the festival offers on and off-site trail rides, a Jeep Playground obstacle course featuring a mud pit, Jeep Invasion street party, Mystery Road Rally and other activities.

More than 120 companies from across the nation will sell all types of Jeep accessories and other items.

In 2017, 2,040 Jeeps from 27 states registered to participate in the festival, making it one of the largest Jeep-only events in the United States.

[naviga:h3]Free concert planned June 3[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — The Mary Gibbons Band will perform at 6 p.m. June 3 on the Haven II Patio at Concordia Haven Apartments, 148 Marwood Road.

Admission is free.

The band was formed by Gibbons, former director of the Elderton High School Band, and her husband, Kevin, former director of the Kittanning Fireman’s Band.

Several of the musicians are retired or current band directors and music teachers.

The band specializes in swing music from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s and will perform favorites of the Big Band era.

This is the first in a series of Summer Sunday Patio Concerts.

The East Winds Symphonic Band is scheduled for July 22 and the Benny Benack Quartet for Aug. 12.
