BUTLER TWP — A 15-year-old boy is charged with felony and misdemeanor assault for allegedly punching his mother outside their Chesapeake Street home Wednesday evening.

A passing motorist about 6:10 p.m. called 911 to report seeing a child hitting a woman, Butler Township police said.

Officers got there and determined the incident was a domestic-related altercation. The 34-year-old victim suffered facial injuries that police described as “minor.”

Police a short time later found the boy, who they did not identify, inside the family's home. He was arrested without incident and subsequently turned over to county juvenile authorities.

The teen is being held at an unspecified juvenile detention facility and is awaiting a hearing on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
