Police arrest suspect in drug sting in Cranberry
CRANBERRY TWP — A Lycoming County man is jailed on six-figure bail after state and county narcotics officers say they found about 3 ounces of suspected cocaine in the trunk of his car last week.
Brennan S. Gundrum, 21, of Williamsport was arrested Thursday following a probe into drug trafficking by the Pennsylvania Attorney's Office Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and the Butler County Drug Task Force.
Authorities said a police informant advised them that Gundrum was “selling cocaine,” according to court documents, and had offered to sell the informant 4 ounces of cocaine for $6,000.
Gundrum and the informant subsequently set up a drug deal at 4 p.m. Thursday at a convenience store on Freedom Road in Cranberry Township.
Gundrum about 4:30 p.m. drove to the store, where state narcotics agents and county drug task force officers were waiting.
A search of the car turned up 85 grams of suspected cocaine hidden in the trunk, documents said. Agents also found a bottle of inositol powder, which is a popular cutting agent added to dilute cocaine and thereby increase the amount of product for sale.
Gundrum was arraigned on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
He is being held in Butler County Prison on $150,000 bail while awaiting his preliminary hearing May 11 before District Judge David Kovach.
Authorities in court papers noted that Gundrum is on state probation stemming from prior drug cases in Pennsylvania in 2014 and in Maryland in 2016.
Online records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
