CRANBERRY TWP — Fire crews from Cranberry battled back-to-back fires Tuesday afternoon.

The first was a car fire at Manheim Pittsburgh auto auction on Route 19. That call came in at 11:52 a.m.

Chief David Mack said a small car was on fire near the entrance. It was fully involved by the time the department got there, but firefighters got the blaze under control.

As they were finishing up there, a call came in at 12:09 p.m. for a brush fire in the 9600 block of Goehring Road. Mack said the homeowner was burning leaves in a wooded, brushy area near the driveway, and the fire got out of control.

Mack said he took a crew from Manheim and went to the house, which abuts North Boundary Park to the south, and had Harmony Fire District respond as well.

The brush fire was contained quickly, but burned an area about 40 feet by 40 feet and came within a few feet of an outbuilding, Mack said.
