Carmody, Morton all-state
Another day, another accolade for Robby Carmody.
The 6-foot-5 Mars senior guard and Notre Dame recruit was named Pennsylvania's Class 5A Boys Basketball Player of the Year by the state's sports writers Tuesday.
Carmody averaged 31.1 points, 14.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.7 steals per game as a senior for Mars.
He finished his career with a Butler County record 2,390 points.

Butler's 6-6 sophomore guard Ethan Morton was named to the Class 6A first team.
Morton averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals per game as the Golden Tornado point guard.
He also hit 81 percent of his free throws.
Slippery Rock High graduate Zach Sarver also earned an honor.
The Sharon coach was named Class 4A coach of the year after leading the Tigers to their first PIAA championship game since 1957.
