State police are searching for an unknown male who fled troopers Thursday night on a motorcycle and on foot.

The suspect was first spotted about 9:40 p.m. running a red light at North Chestnut and West Jefferson streets, police said. He was riding a red, 2001 Yamaha Thundercat.

Police activated their emergency lights and the cyclist pulled into the nearby Sunoco gas station. But when troopers got out of their car and approached him, he took off, driving south on Wagner Avenue and then onto West Cunningham Street.

Police said they activated their lights and siren during the pursuit.

The suspect, who was wearing a white helmet, subsequently dumped the cycle at West Cunningham and South McKean streets and ran off. Police searched but could not find him.
