April 11 — Robert D. Dingel, 49, of Middlesex Township was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a traffic stop earlier this month on Browns Hill Road. Police said he was stopped about 7:35 p.m. April 6 for more than one traffic violation.

Dingel denied he had been drinking, according to court documents, but a portable breath test device indicated he had alcohol in his system. Field sobriety tests were started but discontinued after he complained of back pain.

He was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.119 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Dingel is charged with driving under the influence, speeding, failing to keep right and careless driving.

April 11 — Police charged Michael Harshman, 57, of Seven Fields with DUI stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month at Denny Road and Blackberry Lane.

Harshman was pulled over about 11:40 p.m. April 4, according to court documents, after his vehicle traveled into the opposing lane of an officers’s patrol car, causing the officer to swerve slightly to the right to avoid a collision.

The defendant subsequently failed field sobriety tests and a portable breath test device showed he had alcohol in his system. Police took him to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood test that indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.092 percent.

In addition to DUI, Harshman is charged with failing to keep right and careless driving.
