A woman was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday afternoon with injuries she suffered in a one-car crash along Neupert Road.

JEFFERSON TWP — A woman was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday afternoon with injuries she suffered in a one-car crash along Neupert Road.

The accident occurred at 5:22 p.m. about a half mile from Route 356.

State police said the woman was alone in the vehicle traveling west when her car, a white 4-door sedan, struck a tree.

Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Chris Ballina said the driver was not entrapped and was conscious when firefighters removed her from the car, but her injuries appeared serious.

“She was conscious and talked to us when we took her out of the car. We flew her to the hospital as a precaution. With the impact you don’t know what’s going on internally,” Ballina said.

The road was briefly closed while firefighters removed her from the car, Ballina said.

There was no immediate information on the cause of the accident.

The Saxonburg Ambulance Service also responded to the crash.
