Freeport boys track still perfect

Moniteau nets sweep of foes in cold weather

Freeport’s Luke Kennedy took first place in both hurdle events as well as the high jump as the Yellowjacket boys track and field team remained undefeated (6-0) with a 102-38 victory at Deer Lakes on Monday.

In the girls’ meet, Sidney Shemanski won three individual events — 200, 400 and 800 — but the ‘Jacket girls suffered their first loss of the season, 72-69 to the Lancers.

Moniteau earns sweep — Jake Patton won three individual events and also ran a leg of the winning 1,600 relay as the Moniteau boys beat North Clarion, 94-47, and Cranberry, 99-42.

Cambrie Campbell also won three events for the Warrior girls in a 99-50 victory over North Clarion and a 79-70 triumph over Cranberry.

Boys Lacrosse

Andrew Moyer and Michael Doyle both scored four goals in Mars’ 17-5 win at Quaker Valley.

Anthony Grieco added three goals in the win.

Softball

Knoch split a pair of games over the weekend in Kentucky, defeating Ryle 6-1 and losing a 4-1 decision to DuPont Manual.

Celia Knappenberger tossed a three-hitter in the victory. Knappenberger and Emma Brandstetter both tripled and singled in the win.

Brandstetter had two singles in the second game. Knoch (4-2, 2-1) hosts Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Tuesday at Laura Doerr Park.
