MIDLAND, Beaver County — Jordyn Walker of Cranberry Township will play a lead role in the musical “Big Fish” opening April 20 at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.

The role of Sandra Bloom is the mother in the show.

“Big Fish” is based on Daniel Wallace’s 1998 novel “Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions.”

The musical has been compared to “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Odyssey” and “Music Man.”

The story, which features flashbacks, tall tales and epic adventures that come to life, quickly caught the attention of American screenwriter John August who adapted the novel for a 2003 film. In 2013, August brought the story to Broadway with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

The Lincoln Park performances will feature original costumes and props from Broadway.

The cast includes students Brianna Kutchko of Valencia; Tessa DeJeet of Cranberry Township; Megan Curry and Zane Gagliardi, both of Butler; and Madison Kish of Grove City.

The show will run through May 6.
