MONROEVILLE — Butler Cubs boxers Isaac Gunther and Brian Mowry won Pittsburgh Golden Gloves amateur titles over the weekend at the Monroeville Doubletree.

Gunther (8-2) scored a unanimous decision over Leron Rockymore of Boyce AC in their Cadet (ages 15-16) division bout.

Mowry (13-2) won the heavyweight division title with a first-round TKO of Mike Manna from Jack's Gym in Pittsburgh. Mowry, 22, also won the Fighter of the Night award.

Mowry will advance to the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves finals, slated for April 28 at the Monroeville Sports Center. He will face Sonny Conto of Philadelphia, who won the Pa. Golden Gloves title in the 201-pound Open division last year.

Two other Cubs fighters had bouts in the Pittsburgh Golden Gloves over the weekend. Lucas Adams (15-15) won by unanimous decision over Lucas Llera of the Wolfpack gym in Carnegie in a non-title 190-pound bout.

Billy Wolfe (40-10) lost a split decision in his 17-year-old Junior division Golden Gloves final against Nate Johnson of the Wolfpack gym.
