CONCORD TWP — A woman is accused of hitting her fiancé's 13-year-old son in the face with a leather belt.

The alleged assault Monday at the family's home left the boy with bruising to both eyes, authorities said.

State police Wednesday arrested Meghan L. Sundberg, 24, who admitted she “lost it” and struck the boy, according to court documents.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Sundberg on charges of simple assault and harassment. She was later released on her own recognizance.

Police said they were called about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday to Sundberg's home on Rachel Lane in Concord Township for a welfare check on the alleged victim.

Troopers spoke to the boy's father, who claimed his fiancée hit his son sometime Monday night, causing two black eyes.

The boy told police that Monday he stayed after school for detention and rode the activity bus home, documents said. He got back about 5:20 p.m. and began cleaning the kitchen.

When Sundberg returned home, the boy recounted, she was upset and hit him in the face “four or five times” with a belt.

Sundberg seemed to corroborate the boy's account, documents said.

She told troopers that after school Monday she went to pick up the boy. But when she got there, she learned he had already left.

Sundberg drove home and “lost it,” according to a police affidavit. “She admits to striking the boy several times in the face.”

Police said that the boy's injuries included bruising to the left cheek area as well as to both eyes.

At her arraignment Wednesday, Sundberg told Stoughton that she has two children, ages 2 and 4. Her preliminary hearing is set March 13,
