FORWARD TWP — A man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he threatened his father with a machete and slit a dog's throat at the family's mobile home.

Aaron J. Baysek, 44, is being held in Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. He is facing felony counts of assault and animal cruelty, and other charges.

State police spoke to Baysek's parents after being called to the home on Wilson Avenue about 9:30 p.m. The parents met the troopers outside.

Raymond Baysek described his son as unstable, according to court documents. He said his son punched him in the head and face and threatened to kill him with a machete.

Baysek's mother, Marlene, told officers that he threatened to cut her, police said, and kill the family dog.

Baysek eventually came out of the house while police were talking to his parents.

Police said they went into the home and found a knife in the living room with blood on it. The knife had been forced into a wooden coffee table. A machete also was laying on the table.

On the floor was a glass bowl with suspected marijuana residue in it.

A trooper made his way into a rear bedroom and found a dog “with its throat slit from ear to ear,” according to a police affidavit.

Police noted there was blood throughout the room and on the doorway. The dog reportedly was killed.

District Judge William O'Donnell arraigned Baysek on two counts of aggravated assault and a charge of aggravated cruelty to an animal, all felonies.

He also is charged with two counts each of simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats, and one count each of disorderly conduct and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

At Baysek's arraignment, O'Donnell set bail conditions that order him to submit to a mental health evaluation if he is released from jail. He also is to have no contact with his parents.
