SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University announced its nominees for its Media Hall of Fame on Feb. 28.
Nominees for this year’s Media Hall of Fame are Tom McCoy, Linda Henderson, Greg McAtee, Matt Fleeger, Steve Simons, George McDowell, Lois Bowers, Jim Meyer, Bill McChain, Susanne LaFrankie, Julie-Anne Stoner, Vickey Hoover Smith, Liz Herbert Archaumbault and Mark Schaas.
In addition to the regular nominees, alumni Bob Hitchcock and former communications professor Robert Leffingwell will be inducted for Lifetime Achievement.
Brook Henderson, a senior and a communications-multimedia major at SRU, will be awarded the Mike McHugh Undergrad Award for Excellence.
Voting for this year’s inductees will take place through May 1. Five nominees will be inducted in this year’s class.
An induction ceremony will be conducted Oct. 12 during the university’s homecoming weekend.
,h3>Butler Township names tax collector[/naviga:h3]
BUTLER TWP — The township commissioners Monday appointed Olivia Wiest to serve as tax collector to fill the vacancy created by the death of William Helsel.
The tax cards will be mailed once new cards have been printed and processed. Commissioners said the discount period and base period will be extended to coincide with the delay in mailing the cards.
The new phone number and mailing address for the tax collector will be posted once they have been established.
