State police Monday filed felony charges against three repeat shoplifters, and similar charges against a fourth person on Thursday.

Charged Monday in unrelated cases were Amanda A. Beck, 33, of Center Township; and Linda M. Claypoole, 55, and Terry Williams, 54, both of Butler.

The fourth defendant arrested last week was Krystal A. Otto, 32, of Butler.

Beck, who has seven prior shoplifting convictions, is accused of taking meatballs, pasta sauce, pork chops and other food items Jan. 9 from the Giant Eagle store at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.

Along with the food products, she allegedly snatched baby wipes. In all, the merchandise was valued at $46.60.

But as she ran through the parking lot, according to court documents, she dropped the items. She got away, however, several employees recognized her, police said.

Beck has been in Butler County Prison since Feb. 3, when Butler Township police arrested her for allegedly shoplifting at a store at Butler Crossing shopping plaza.

She is being held on $10,000 bail and a probation detainer.

Her arraignment on the latest charge of felony retail theft has not been set.

Claypoole on Jan. 30 allegedly made off without paying for $32.22 in gasoline at the Bruin Station on Main Street in Bruin. The owner followed the car she was in and got the license plate number.

Court records showed Claypoole has three previous convictions for shoplifting.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for her on a felony count of retail theft.

Williams, who has racked up 15 shoplifting priors, is charged this time with teaming up with an unknown woman Feb. 12 to steal $245 worth of clothing at the Boscov's store at the Clearview Mall.

Once the woman was out of the store, an employee caught up to her, documents said. But she pulled away, dropped the bag and ran away with Williams.

Police have a warrant for Williams' arrest on a felony count of conspiracy to commit retail theft.

Otto, who has three previous convictions for shoplifting, is accused of taking bottles of baby lotion and baby wash, totaling $9.58, Thursday at the Clearview Mall Giant Eagle, documents said.

She was stopped outside the store, police said.

She was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft, and remains free on 1,000 bail.

In Pennsylvania, retail theft is normally a summary or misdemeanor offense. The charge is upgraded to a third-degree felony regardless of the stolen property's value when a suspect has at least two prior convictions for the same crime.
