[naviga:h3]Blaze kills 1, injures 1 near Pittsburgh[/naviga:h3]

CARNEGIE — Authorities say a fire in an apartment building near Pittsburgh killed one person and injured another.

The blaze was reported Friday night in a three-story building in Carnegie that has a restaurant on the first floor and apartments on the upper floors.

One person was rescued from an upper-floor window with a ladder truck and two people were taken to a hospital.

One of the victims, identified by the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office as 64-year-old John Wells, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Fire units were back on the scene Saturday because the blaze rekindled. Officials said 25 residents have been displaced, and the Red Cross is providing assistance.

INDIANA — Authorities have released the name of a man killed in an apparent domestic fight that left a woman critically injured.

State police in Indiana County said troopers were sent to a home in White Township at about 8:15 a.m. Saturday after the 59-year-old woman fled to a neighbor’s home for help. She was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.

Troopers then went to her home and found 66-year-old Daniel Zelenski unresponsive with “indications of trauma to his body.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they believe both had been stabbed but revealed little more about how they were wounded. Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. said the man died of multiple sharp force wounds. A knife was recovered from the scene.

[naviga:h3]Lehigh won’t revoke degree for Trump[/naviga:h3]

BETHLEHEM — Lehigh University’s board of trustees will not revoke President Donald Trump’s honorary degree after nearly two-thirds of the school’s faculty voted to do so.

The board issued a statement Friday saying it is committed to demonstrating openness to a wide range of views.

A school committee announced Tuesday that about 300 faculty members voted in favor of a motion that said Trump has made statements that contradict the school’s values.

The trustees previously denied a petition to rescind Trump’s honorary degree in October 2017.

The university awarded Trump the degree in 1988.

[naviga:h3]Computers seized in Aliquippa search[/naviga:h3]

ALIQUIPPA — Aliquippa’s solicitor says state police seized several computers from the city government building as part of a grand jury investigation.

Solicitor Myron Sainovich said Friday the search warrant indicated the investigation pertains to possible theft.

He says troopers took two computers from the general pool area, one from the tax office and one from codes enforcement.

Sainovich says there were previous signs a grand jury has been investigating something in Beaver County, but the search on Friday was his first indication that Aliquippa was being investigated.
