HARMONY — Participants will follow lit candles March 17 to the borough's annual Harmoniefest celebration, commemorating the founding of the Harmonist Society and recognizing residents' efforts to preserve and restore the history of the Harmony.

Historic Harmony is holding its 51st annual Harmoniefest fundraiser starting at 6 p.m. at Stewart Hall.

The event commemorates the 214th anniversary of the founding of the Harmonist Society in 1805. Attendees will receive an anniversary gift.

Historic Harmony also will recognize five winners of the 2018 Heritage and Awards and Commendations for their efforts in historical preservation and restoration in the borough.

Honorees are Pat Murray for the restoration of the Weingartner House; Chris and Gerry Palmer for restoring their farmhouse; Erik Christensen for restoring the white and green house on Main Street; Robert and ChrisAnn Goosen for rehabilitating their 19th century farmhouse; and the Zelienople 175th Anniversary Committee for organizing the commemoration of the borough's incorporation in 1840.

The evening will feature a wine and cheese reception, followed by a meal catered by Nancy Korczynski.

The Wayward Companions will provide the musical entertainment. The group plays music that hearkens to the 18th century and dresses in period clothes.
