Kelly wins one award, is finalist for another
Congressman Mike Kelly’s work is being recognized by at least two organizations.
Rep. Kelly, R-3rd, was one of two legislators from Pennsylvania to receive the 2018 Distinguished Community Health Defender Award.
The award is conferred by the National Association of Community Health Centers, and recognizes Kelly’s “taking multiple actions on behalf of health centers including advocating for health center funding, cosponsoring important legislation and engaging with health centers in their district.”
“Our health centers provide quality primary medical, dental and behavioral health care to more than 800,000 vulnerable Pennsylvanians,” said Cheri Rinehart, CEO of Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers. “This would not be possible without the support of the legislative leaders that we’re honoring.”
Rep. Dwight Evans (D-2nd), also won the award.
Kelly is also a finalist for the first Democracy Award.
The Congressional Management Foundation’s new award recognizes nonlegislative achievement and performance in congressional offices.
Kelly was selected because of his “outstanding accomplishments for the category of Constituent Service.”
That category honors offices for their outstanding practices or achievements acing as ombudsmen with the federal government or responding to constituent requests and inquiries.
“As a finalist in Constituent Service for a Democracy Award, Rep. Kelly’s office is clearly one of the best in Congress,” said foundation CEO and President Bradford Fitch. “This designation demonstrates that Rep. Kelly has made a significant commitment to being the best public servant for his constituents in Pennsylvania.”
Winners will be announced in mid-May.
