Wednesday — Bryan W. Anthony, 28, of Butler was charged with trying to run away from police stemming from his arrest on a pair of bench warrants.
Officers about 12:40 a.m. Feb. 5 got a call for a reported gun incident at a home in the 200 block of Second Street.
Police got there and spotted two men leaving the house. The men were told to stop but took off running in separate directions, according to court documents.
An officer eventually caught up to and stopped one of the men, who was identified as Anthony, in the 400 block of East Locust Street.
He appeared to be intoxicated, police said, and was found with suspected marijuana in his wallet.
A search of court records found that Anthony was wanted on two bench warrants — one in Butler County and the other in Mercer County. He was placed in Butler County Prison on the warrants.
Police subsequently charged him with flight to avoid apprehension, possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness.
