Tuesday — Police charged a student with taking an Apple iPhone from a classroom Jan. 30 at Butler Intermediate High School. The student, a 14-year-old boy, is charged in Butler County juvenile court with theft and receiving stolen property.

Friday — Robert W. Bryant, 33, and Jessica L. Piwonski, 36, both of Butler were charged with failing to scan 68 items of Feb. 2 at the self-checkout aisle at the Butler Commons Walmart. The property was valued at $266.60.

Bryant and Piwonski are both charged with retail theft and conspiracy.

6:40 p.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Christina Scott, 25, and Robert Manci, 55, both of Butler, collided at Route 8 and Evans Road.

9:45 a.m. Thursday — Colleen Ryan, 65, of Butler was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck at New Castle and Duffy roads.

Police said the crash happened when Ryan ran a red light and her car struck a van driven by Ronald Norvelli, 73, of Butler. Ryan was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with a minor injury, according to a police report.

Police are asking that anyone who saw the accident to call the department at 724-285-9600.

Jan. 30 — Wade A. Loccisano, 30, of Ellwood City waived his preliminary hearing on drunken driving charges that police filed stemming from a December crash that caused a power outage in the borough.

Police said Loccisano lost control of his car about 2:35 a.m. Dec. 31 and knocked over a utility pole at Routes 588 and 288. He admitted having “just a couple” of alcoholic beverages that night, according to court documents.

Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.239 percent, documents said, or nearly three times the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit for alcohol.

Loccisano is charged with driving under the influence and disregarding traffic lanes. His formal arraignment is set for March 26.

6:50 p.m. Feb. 6 — Amanda G. Foran, 31, was arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband during a domestic dispute at their home on the 200 block of Carbon Center Road in Summit Township.

The victim told police that Foran scratched his left arm several times, sat on his chest and threw a book at him, according to court documents. The book hit him in the forehead.

Foran was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment. She was placed in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail following arraignment.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

1:19 a.m. Saturday — A 42-year-old Rimersburg man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 in Brady Township, Clarion County. Police said charges are pending lab results.
