Four Butler County fire and EMS companies were recently awarded state grants, according to Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th.

Harmony Fire District received a $26,729 grant; Harmony EMS received a $7,037 grant; Prospect Volunteer Fire Department received an $11,728 grant; and Portersville Muddy Creek Volunteer EMS received a $7,037 grant.

The grants, from a program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the State Fire Commissioner’s office, may be used for construction or renovation of a unit’s station, equipment purchase or repair, training or debt reduction.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to our volunteer firefighters and EMS crews,” Vogel said. “I congratulate all of the men and women of our volunteer fire and EMS companies for qualifying for this funding. To see this funding return to our area is so important in assisting these volunteers to keep our communities safe.”
